1) Bring your Umbrella!  Summers in western Massachusetts are frequented by thunderstorms particularly in the late afternoon.  It is not uncommon for moisture collected during the day to be dispensed on the Pioneer Valley at about 4 O'clock in the afternoon as the clouds crest the Berkshire Mountains.  It you haven't had a good thunderstorm in a while you might find it exciting.  The pleasant part is that it cools the ground and abates the summer heat.

2) Don't be surprised if it is hot and humid.  Last summer was quite pleasant, and we had afternoon showers almost everyday.  Resultantly, we had a fairly pleasant and mild summer with only one HOT week in July to mention.  Who knows what this summer will be like, check the farmers almanac and wear natural fibers.
