Out front., there is a small enclave of tulips...
Earlier, I had neglected to include pictures of the back yard and back of the house - actually, the lighting was terrible so the first set of pictures were crummy.
Here's the back. You can't see the Plank That Will Not Lie Flat. Grrr.
Here's the back yard from the deck. It was suggested, in reference to the violets, that I should let the back yard go wild. Well. It turns out that everything past the rock-bordered garden is already wild. The property extends back (and slopes down) another 75 yards or so beyond the small garden. It's all woods.
We took out a severely bowed piece of drywall. It was being bowed by this piece of wood. I thought the toolmarks were fascinating. It looks like it was cut by a circular saw (of pretty wide diameter), but no effort was made to plane the edges square.
The board was held in by square iron nails. Pretty interesting. I don't know if they were hand or machine made. The iron had gotten somewhat brittle over time.
Recognize this view? You're looking at a large section of replaced drywall, many patches and a layer of primer.
This is the other side without primer. The screwjacks were put in because we were disassembling the support beam and needed to make sure what we were taking out was cosmetic and not structural. It turned out to be cosmetic (phew).
Here's what was revealed after we took out the ugly stained pine. We'll be adding more structure.
I keep saying 'we' - here's Evie, adorable in the painter's hat.
In moving to MA, I took the opportunity to succomb to some vanity. I was disappointed that "DREVIL" was taken, but this is fine by me.
Post lawnmowing and housework, I thought my sweat stained "bad hair day" hat made a good subject.
