Day 18 of 31 for 21.

Cooking can be a lot of fun with kids. With Alice, we have to be careful to make sure we can break things down to reasonable steps and prep her appropriately.  You can’t always cook the way you would when you’re alone by grabbing things on the go.  Instead, it helps to have your ingredients on hand and maybe even set up a mis en place.  Evie made lasagne with Alice and took lots of pictures.

Next, you need to break things into steps that will have a high degree of success.  So for lasagne, spreading sauce is an easy task.

And that of course once you can spread sauce on the bottom, you can do that on every layer.

And why do we do this?  Well, cooking for yourself is a life skill.  Cooking can be fun.  Cooking helps organization and sequencing.  And, of course, the results are so gratifying:
